Under Pressure?
Wellbeing is essential in the time that we are living through. Jesus spoke these words “your faith has made you well” to a woman who looked for help from him when she had used up all her other options. The woman was made well physically, emotionally and spiritually by extending her hope by reaching out in faith toward Jesus. One of the keys to our wellbeing is being operational with our faith. Have it and use it.
Jesus noticed her presence in the crowd of people so much that he even felt when she touched the bottom of his clothes. Deep in her heart she knew that Jesus could help her when no one else could. Jesus was her last resort but he can be our first one if we choose it to be so. The woman got the healing she needed when she reached out and touched Jesus.
We too can still do this today by turning our heart to Jesus and saying a simple prayer from the heart “Jesus I need you, help me.” This is what having faith looks like. It has the action of doing something…reaching out and touching the person of Jesus. All through the darker days of my husbands illness I had to battle under pressure to get the breakthroughs he needed. I never gave up my faith that God could help in the hour of our need. In fact I pressed in more. When I had no other option I reached out and touched the hem of Jesus garment. I stretched my faith and God did something.
God is always moved by our vulnerability toward him. Psalm 34:18 speaks to us that “God is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” I read a great quote by Pastor Bill Johnson recently “Faith doesn’t deny a problems existence. It denies it a place of influence.” What a great reality to bring to the front of our mind when we are being hit with difficulties. The woman didn’t give up hope of being well, she didn’t deny the problem but pursued her breakthrough anyway. One good thing we can to do help jog our minds back into the faith zone and out of the overwhelmed by the problem, is to remember the miracles of the past that we have experienced.
The Israelites did this on a regular basis. They remembered how God had rescued them many times from destruction. When they were under threat from an army coming to destroy them, God made a way through opening the sea for them to pass through to safety. Their faith as they cried out to God made them well; it released a solution. To remember the past things God has done builds our faith to believe for our future. God has not changed who he is or what he does “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” Hebrews 13:8.
Let’s get remembering. As we do so our hearts will become still and hope will rise up – faith will come. I encourage you to reach out to the one who can help in the hour of our need, that’s what I have done and continue to do; God the father. Take a moment today to have a little prayer and offload the pressure.
