Street Life

Natural evangelism in the marketplace.

In the summer of 2023 another evangelist and myself started prayer walking areas. As we went we met some people along the way and had some laughs, tears and conversations; mainly laughs, this is natural evangelism in the marketplace.

We felt quite soon that God may actually be doing something new through us showing up. That means being available and being prepared to have conversations about God and be ready to pray with people when we feel the nudge of the Holy Spirit; that’s all.

This style is more like pop up outreach rather than anything planned that leads to a program. We have had some really beautiful times with people and I have personally been amazed how God has brought people to us. One day we sat in a coffee shop and a person sat next to us and began chatting about a book they loved – Pilgrims Progress. I pointed out that it was a Christian book and they then went on to ask us questions about God and what we knew. I was blown away, it was such a lovely natural conversation. Of course, I always have one of my small books on me so we left them with that. My friend pointed out how there was a prayer they could pray in the back, they commented that they’d been wanting a prayer to say so they would use it – how cool is that?

Another time I went over to chat to someone and all I said was “tell me” that was as far as I got and they went on to tell me their story and how they had faced a very traumatic situation, coming through being put in an induced coma and surviving. I felt to give them time and then share a bit of my own experience of Gods presence in my life helps me and is always there. It was quite a deep, meaningful conversation.

Street life has been born naturally through prayer, feet on the ground and availability. We have lots more stories these are just a couple to inspire you. The lovely thing about this approach is Street Life can happen anywhere, its not tied to one place or time, only Gods timing. So please pray over this and let’s see what God does.

We are praying that as we walk and talk many will have a chance to hear something of Gods heart for them.
