Going the Extra Mile

Pastor Dan in Nepal has been on a ministry trip with a difference. He travelled 15 hours each way on a bus to reach one person with the love of God.

The man he went to reach is a young man trapped in severe depression. He found him neglected, alone, not eating or sleeping . When Pastor Dan found him the young man was struggling to think straight due to being becoming dependant on things that were not good for him. We were able to send something food and other needs including transport. We are pleased to have been able to help in a small way in this young mans healing path.

The love Pastor Dan has for God and the obedience that comes from is what mostly challenges me most through our friendship. His heart is big for people - always going the extra mile for those who need encouraging, going when called to go. Travelling to rural areas spending time with churches where they’ve had no teaching for years. The Church in other parts of the world can struggle with people difficult life dependences that can arise from deep depression. Pastor Dan is prepared to try and move mountains to connect with people and equip the Church in remote places.

I often found myself asking the question “how far I would go to share the love of God ? ” Would I go the extra mile when it’s required, I’m not sure sometimes. Pastor Dan lives with very little personally, running a church in a poor community and sowing his life and family into serving God. He has a big vision and this we love knowing God will continue to work through him.It is incredibly powerful for me and challenging at the same time to watch..

I do thank God though that there are people like Pastor Dan who will go the extra mile when someone is crying out, whether that be in prayer or just crying out from the death of the heart for help. The young man is now back home in the city with the Pastor, being cared for and put back together, regaining his life back from the destruction of becoming dependent on things.

Please do pray for him and for Pastor Dan as he keeps going the extra mile when God calls him. Thank you to those of you who helped to give this young man a chance to find his feet. Pray for a good future for him free to be who he is created to be.
