The Door is Open

For a great and effective door has been opened to me and there are many adversaries.

1 Corinthians 16 : 9 

There are so many doors that we go through in every day life or use to open things up or shut things in.

We may go through a door in the house to go to a room for a specific reason to cook. to sleep or to relax and so on.. The doors we go through make a difference to our lives large and small for instance if we go through the door of an aeroplane we can fly around the world or if we open a door to a cupboard we can get a cup and have a drink. We can close the house door to keep the cold out or we can open it and explore the outside world.

The scriptures explain to us in the book of Revelation Chapter 3, verses 7-8 exactly how open the doors are over our lives through the work of Jesus. “What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” There is real hope and a promise for us to grab a hold of this year.

In every day life, we are looking for the right doors to go through and we are looking for the right doors to shut for the right reasons so we can be encouraged in this year ahead by the scripture above that God wants to open and also shut doors as we journey with him. We are being taught here that a key to opening and closing doors is to know what God says and to know Jesus name. We can consider Jesus words in Matthew where he says :

“Ask and it shall be given 

Seek and you shall find

Knock and the door shall be opened.”

Interesting that the first letter from the above three lines spells ASK.

So as we ask in prayer and seek fist the kingdom of God and trust if we knock on doors that Jesus will open up the way we are to go through 

The scripture said we may feel weak but in him we can say we are strong for the Holy Spirit dwelling inside us promises to lead and guide us into all truth and we find all truth in the word of God ( Bible ) and in the name of Jesus who is the way the truth and the life . We can search for Gods word for healing, forgiveness, knowing him, restoration, recovery and direction that we may be like Apostle Paul who could say an effective door that makes a difference has been opened up to me .

Already we have seen doors open in this year with open doors into India and Nepal by invitation to speak on zoom into Christian communities the word of God which they are hungry for. As Jesus said the hungry and Thirsty shall be filled and so we can see that this itself can be an open door to fulfilment.

As we pray we can agree this year with Psalm 118:19 where is says “open to us the gates of righteousness, I will go through them, I will praise the lord. This is the gate of the lord which the righteous shall enter.”

Doors are two way as we are asking Jesus to open doors and close doors this year. We are responding to him knocking on the door of our lives and opening up to him in a new way and he says that he will come in and live with us and that is the most effective door we will ever open as it also has the effect of shutting the door on our adversary whatever that may be for you.
